Leaders and volunteers in non-profit organizations typically come from a very diverse background and have different
– and sometimes emotional – reasons for getting involved. While they bring a lot of passion to the organization, they often have their own ideas about what the organization should be doing and what its goals should be. When beliefs, emotion and self-fulfilling goals are driving the decision-making, how can a non-profit achieve harmony among the leadership and in turn, its volunteer base?
First, the Executive Director needs to have the energy to lead the organization and motivate the volunteers or the organization will not be able to carry out its mission. When the Director’s energy level is enhanced, they will see themselves as powerful, yet safe, and be able to obtain support from others to sustain and grow the organization, even in tough times.
Belief coaching conducted by PEP can also help
the Executive Director and Board members more fully connect with each other and help everyone overcome the beliefs that may be limiting their success: lack of volunteer commitment, no funds, no support and so on.
With help from PEP, the leadership will be able to make better choices in finding and securing volunteers and staff and get more done with less people. PEP is especially helpful in smaller non-profits as well as those that have experienced high turnover in leadership or its volunteer base or are seeing funding decline.
